For most Americans, Braun is known primarily (and singularly) as a company that makes shavers and coffee makers. However in the design world, it is known as design innovator of highest degree (some refer to it the proto-Apple). Through the designs of Dieter Rams (check this flickr stream), Braun championed super-slick, functionalist designs throughout 1950-80s. It produced a diverse line of household goods and electronics that are highly in-demand by design collectors. Turntable Lab is proud to offer authentic Braun reissue items.

Braun: Men's Analog Watch (BN-24WH) - Black/White Reviews
This review is from: Braun: Men's Analog Watch (BN-24WH) - Black/White (Watch)
Initially, I wasn't impressed. I thought the design was too old-fashioned. I was undecided between giving it away to my son or returning it. So i just kept it in the box. Weeks later, I re-visited it and found, to my surprise, that it was growing on me. I guess it was the clean, simple, functional design, along with the separate second-hand dial. Plus I liked the feel and color of the leather strap. So I started wearing it, casual-like, for days at a time. Now, I'm getting compliments from friends who notice it.

I love this watch. The epitome of clean design. Works in both formal and informal settings. Size is perfect, too. Finally--a virtually silent movement, which I find to be important. I occasionally wish there was a date display, but can live without it.

From Italy comes the celebrated Pasquini Livia 90 Semiautomatic espresso & cappuccino machine. Designed for home, office, or small restaurant use, it employs sturdy commercial components from a world famous professional espresso machine line. The Pasquini Livia 90 Semiautomatic espresso machine sets the standard for what is possible from a home espresso machine. This is the true connoisseur's espresso machine, and is a lifetime investment for the espresso aficionado. Jam packed with commercial grade features and parts, the Pasquini Livia is a true heat exchanger espresso machine, which means the boiler is used for steaming on demand, and espresso water is drawn straight from the built in reservoir - it gets flash heated as it passes through a piping system inside the boiler. With the Livia 90, producing espresso shot after espresso shot, and steaming instantly for large parties is never a problem. Brewing espresso & frothing milk at the same time is no problem for the Livia! This is an absolute necessity for any espresso machine used for entertaining or in a semi-commercial environment. This saves a lot of time and eliminates the need for you to wait for the boiler to ""recover"" between espresso brewing and milk heating functions (common on all single boiler machines). The dual heat exchanger allows for both functions to take place simultaneously. The Livia 90 Semiautomatic is just like the Livia 90 Automatic, but IT DOES NOT have the automatic one-touch brewing system like the automatic version.
1.5 Liter dual heat exchange boiler allows for simultaneous brewing and steaming.
Solid stainless steel construction guarantees many years of excellent service.
15 BAR pump provides optimal pressure for perfect extraction every time.
3-way solenoid valve instantly relieves the pressure in the group heap making cleanup easier
This review is from: Pasquini Livia 90 Semiautomatic Commercial Espresso/Cappuccino Machine (Kitchen)
I bought the Pasquini Livia 90 Automatic in 2002. The version I needed was for 240 volt operation so it was shipped from Italy. At the same time I also ordered the grinder and 2 drawer base. I had spent a lot of time reading reviews and comments on several sites for a wide variety of machines. The number of reviews which compared their brands to the Pasquini Livia machines was what really sold me on the Pasquini. You don't compare your machine(s) to lesser machines, you compare against the best. If so many various reviews used Pasquini as a target then it must be well worth a look. I am glad I did, it is an extremely well built and reliable machine.
I have mine on for 12 to 16 hours per day and make and serve quite a lot of espresso and cappuccino to family and friends. The Pasquini is also used for tea, cocoa, instant soups and anything else that calls for the use of near boiling water. The machine gets it right every time, any variation in quality is due to the coffee,... Read more

This review is from: Pasquini Livia 90 Semiautomatic Commercial Espresso/Cappuccino Machine (Kitchen)
I have just received the machine from Illy USA at a very attractive price (considering I order the Illy beans regularly anyway, their price on this machine with a one-year coffee subscription is a excellent indeed). I have been needing to replace an espresso machine every 2 years ca., I figured, I might as well try out one considered to be in the light duty commercial catagory.
After the first few cups I learned the proper pressure on the temper and out came from the machine coffee that any Italian coffee bar would be proud of. It could be my imagination, but, the brew from this mahcine seems to be stronger (more bitter) then the Saeco, Krup, and Solis ($300 range machines). Although the crema is not as much when compared with the others I used before. Also, being able to leave the machine on all day long means instant hot water/steam which is very nice for a small office environment. I used the hot water mainly to heat the cups. It does however, take about 7 minutes to... Read more

This review is from: Pasquini Livia 90 Semiautomatic Commercial Espresso/Cappuccino Machine (Kitchen)
This is a serious coffee machine. It's "commercial quality" so it's heavy (almost 50lbs) and very well built. It takes up some counter space (mostly depth) but it looks elegant and is easy to keep clean. The portafilter (handle with basket for coffee) is very sturdy and fits snugly. It has a useful ready gauge and simple buttons (as noted above) for on-off and start-stop.
Now the important stuff: It makes great coffee consistently. I moved up to this machine from a Braun pump espresso machine. This one has better pressure and temperature. I used to brag about my Braun machine because it was inexpensive and made consistently good esperesso. The first shots I pulled from this machine made me realize that I didn't realize what I was missing. If you know how to make espresso, this machine lets you pull easy, consistent, and quality shots.
Another great feature of this machine is the continuous steam and hot (very hot!) water outlet. If you've ever had trouble... Read more

This nifty machine is excellent for the espresso master and for those hankering to become espresso experts. It conveniently lets you make 2 cups at once and features an auto cappuccino accessory that mounts on the steam nozzle and lets you froth large quantities of milk. The foam automatically pours into your waiting cup of espresso. And, making the process even easier, the machine also accommodates the new ESE (easy serving espresso) pods that eliminate grinding, measuring, and tamping--a tin of 18 pods comes with your machine. But if you'd rather master the classic way of making espresso, it works with ground espresso as well. There's also a handy dial to adjust the amount of froth that you want. The machine comes with a clear instructional manual that has lots of pictures and some basic but delicious recipes to get you started. --C. Whitney-Ward
Editor's note: This item may arrive with water inside from the manufacturer's pressure test. This is a normal occurrence and doesn't point to a problem with the machine.
ThermoBlock pump system produces espresso, coffee, cappuccino, and lattes
3-ounce water container; convenient cup-prewarming tray
2 filter holders: 1 for ground espresso, 1 for ESE coffee pods
Cappuccino selector for adjusting froth amounts
Measures 13 by 11 by 12-1/2 inches; 1-year limited warranty, 90 days for parts and service
Krups 968-41 Novo 2300 Plus Automatic Cappuccino Machine, Gray Reviews
braun coffee maker : Krups 968-41 Novo 2300 Plus Automatic Cappuccino Machine, Gray Reviews
I've used these machines every morning for at least 12 years, since the first Krups Espresso Novo came out. I use them to make my breakfast cappucino. Before they were available, I used La Pavoni, an Italian boiler machine, for about 10 years. The Krups are the best pump machines for the price.
The boiler machines seem to take at least 5-8 minutes to heat up before you can get good steam. The Krups pump gives steam in about a minute or two. This saves a lot of time in the AM. And if you're making a lot of expresso or cappucinos for dinner guests, you don't run out of water and have to stop to cool the whole thing down to refill it so you can continue while everybody waits.
I've had none of the problems with leaks, etc. that other reviewers have reported on, but I've had experience using these machines, and I have learned the technique. You have to tighten up the filter cup holder when putting the coffee in, or you get leaks. You have to keep coffee grounds off the metal... Read more

This review is from: Krups 968-41 Novo 2300 Plus Automatic Cappuccino Machine, Gray (Kitchen)
I usually don't do reviews, but I've owned a Krups Novo 2300 for about a year and I like it so much I feel it necessary to correct some of the impressions that potential buyers might get from the previous reviews.
First, many of the negatives have to do with leaks around the seal. When I first got this machine I had similar leaks for the first few times I used it. This can be easily avoided. Any espresso machine will leak a)if the coffee holder isn't sealed properly and b)if you try to make many cups of espresso rapidly or immediately after using the frothing mechanism. This is due to the natural buildup of steam. Too much steam and it's going to overflow the coffee holder.
Like I say, I had coffee holder overflow because I kept doing these things too rapidly. Now, I don't even think about it. I make my espresso, froth my milk and either drink it myself or serve it to a friend. Either way, just a short time and it's ready to use again.
Another objection I saw was that the water... Read more

This review is from: Krups 968-41 Novo 2300 Plus Automatic Cappuccino Machine, Gray (Kitchen)
I'm replacing a previous Amazon review of the Krups Bravo with this review covering both the Bravo and the Krups Novo 2300 Plus (model 968) in a side-by-side comparison. I think this approach will be more helpful to shoppers.
The Bravo is a lower-priced machine which produces espresso by boiling water in a pressure vessel, which uses steam pressure for both brewing and to froth milk. The Novo is a pump unit. It heats water for espresso, and then uses a pump to develop enough pressure to force the water through a brewing head containing grounds. You use a different temperature setting to produce steam, rather than hot water, to steam and froth milk for lattes or cappuccinos.
I used the Bravo for about 2-1/2 years. The unit is inexpensively priced, but the buyer need not have any concerns about quality. It is well-built, durable, and consistent. Basic operation of the machine is very simple, but you have to spend some time getting familiar with it in order to really get the... Read more
